PURPOSE AND INVITATION
It is essential that all spiritual directors receive quality supervision of their practice. Both individual and peer supervision help spiritual companions to reflect on their encounters with directees and on their own growing edges as practitioners. The Formation in Supervision Program will prepare experienced spiritual companions to serve as supervisors through learning sessions, individual and peer supervision, verbatim and other reflection tools.
DISCERNING ADMISSION
We welcome all applicants who are grounded in a spiritual tradition and whose experience includes:
Significant experience in offering spiritual companioning
On-going participation in individual and/or peer supervision
COMMITMENT
There will be five sessions held on six days in latter April and on into May. The precise dates will be determined when the class list is assembled. The program will run from 10 am to 3 PM, with a half hour for lunch and socializing. There will be readings, presentations, reflection assignments, small-group processing, and four meetings for supervision outside of class time (two with a supervisor and two with a supervisee).
APPLICATION
Those seeking admission to the Formation in Supervision Program are asked to complete an application and obtain a Letter of Recommendation from someone who knows your work as a Spiritual Director. When all materials have been received, we will schedule an interview. The number of participants is limited, and early application is encouraged.
